Demolition kicks off to make way for the new fashion high street at Deerfoot City

July 8, 2016

The next phase in the transformation of Destination: Deerfoot City has begun. Dramatic demolition is underway to make way for the new road being constructed through the centre of the former Deerfoot Mall to link the north and south halves of the property. When complete, this road will become Deerfoot Boulevard, a bustling fashion high street at the heart of the Deerfoot City master-plan.

In addition to being the main thoroughfare connecting this sprawling 80-acre site, Deerfoot Boulevard will encompass two of the key social zones at Deerfoot City. It will be home to The Style District, Deerfoot City’s eclectic zone for street front shopping and culture, as well as The Food Lodge where shoppers can retreat, refuel and warm up by the fireplace.

As construction progresses, retailers like Cabela’s, Winners, GoodLife Fitness and Original Joe’s continue to serve shoppers and exceed sales targets. By the end of the year, newcomers including Canadian Tire and The Rec Room by Cineplex Entertainment will be added to the evolving mix of leading international tenants.

When complete, Deerfoot City will be a master-planned retail destination with shops, restaurants and entertainment purposefully positioned for an infusion of vibrancy, creating natural social zones that will bring people together all year long.

Demolition on the former Deerfoot Mall building marks a dramatic milestone in the Destination: Deerfoot City transformation.
